Hi, I am Marcus de la Houssaye,
owner and operator of de la Houssaye's Swamp Tours near Breaux Bridge
for over 25 years.
If you are coming to Cajun country to do a Louisiana swamp tour and are looking for other things to do here, the city of Breaux Bridge is your gateway off of Interstate 10 to Lake Martin Landing where I launch my tours.
that have come to be the most popular tourist attractions in the state of Louisiana today.
If you are seeking adventure, education, entertainment and the opportunity to experience the exotic nature and wildlife in Cajun country up close and personal, consider that my boat is designed to reach the shallow, densely vegetated interior of the swamp in the Atchafalaya Basin, where we harvest crawfish in the wild. In the same boat, now outfitted with comfortable padded seats with back rests, we can get off the lake and into the Bald Cypress swamp surrounding Lake Martin, where wildlife is abundant and undisturbed.
Along with the food, music, and swamp tours south Louisiana is famous for, Breaux Bridge also offers you world famous honky tonk dance halls, quiet and relaxing bed and breakfasts, plantation homes, art galleries, coffee shops, antique stores and friendly people who share a love of life or as we say it in Cajun, a "joie de vivre." If you are driving through Louisiana on Interstate 10, and would like to stop and visit the heart of Cajun Country, Breaux Bridge is a great place to stop and pass a good time, if you only have a few hours or a few days.
Breaux Bridge is known as "The Crawfish Capital of the World" because it is home to the annual Crawfish Festival every year in the first week of May.
I conduct tours year round by reservation only. Please call me on my cell phone at 337 298 2630 to make your reservation, and get information about tour times. The tour departure schedule will be different in the winter time than the schedule we set in the heat of summer. This is relative to the broad seasonal climate changes south Louisiana is famous for.
Please be advised; if you are traveling west through Cajun country on Interstate 10, Breaux Bridge is your last chance to do a swamp tour before reaching the Texas state line.
